Morteratsch

The Morteratch glacier is an iconic glacier located in Engadin valley, St. Moritz. It has been retreating relentlessly over the past 100 years yet it is still a spectacle and the third largest glacier in the eastern Alps.

Who knows how many more years it will live due to global warming. For this reason, these pictures aim at preserving and remembering its greatness with realistic pictures that aim to be timeless and grandees. This induced me to shoot it with sheet film, just like the days when the first explorers at the beginning of the 20th Century did at the time.

Shot on Linhof Technika Master Classic on Ilford B&W film. Developed and scanned by Franco Cavallini.
